I was reading some prepper forums today. Food section was talking about beef stew. The majority of the comments were using either crock pots or pressure cookers.

Kind of hard to pack in a back pack.

Personally when I’m out hunting or working on the homestead. I carry a small backpack and a fanny pack. Digging a fire hole only takes a few seconds. Set up a folding stove use a fuel tab and a canteen cup.

Bit of water some jerky shavings a bit of dehydrated veggies with rice, toss in some thickener like arrowroot or cornstarch. A few minutes and you have a nice little meal that didn’t take for ever to make. Nor much cost since the jerky and veggies I’ve grown.
